How To Create an Effective Lead Magnet

Want to Create an Effective Lead Magnet?

Use this checklist to create a lead magnet that draws new subscribers to your list.

Keep in mind, you have to know who your ideal audience is before you can create an effective lead magnet. So, be sure to look at our audience checklist at https://www.startrustacademy.com/blog/how-to-define-your-ideal-audience.

A lead magnet doesn't have to be long or time-intensive to create. It simply needs to be perceived as valuable by the prospect; something that solves a specific problem they are having.

Lead Magnets Need to:

  • Be targeted to the exact audience you want to attract. Do not use generic, irrelevant freebies.
  • Give specific and valuable information. It should never be vague.
  • Deliver one big promise (like, "save $50 a week on groceries"). They should not give several small things (tutorials, checklists, & useful resources). While your solution may contain all of these, the promise is that they will help subscribers save $50 a week.
  • Deliver an easy solution, something they can achieve quickly and easily.
  • Be instantly accessible. Subscribers want to get the solution immediately upon trusting you with their contact information.
  • Offer something unique. A unique idea, twist, method, etc.
  • Be short; a quick read or short video. Something easily digestible.
  • Demonstrate your unique view on things or your expertise on the topic so viewers start to get to know you.
  • Make your lead believe the solution you provide is possible. (a checklist will lead people from start to finish)
  • Be hooked to an active list - one where you stay in contact with them regularly.
